The countdown to a DraftKings Sportsbook retail space nears its end.
This week, the leading mobile sportsbook in New Jersey will open the doors to DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts, located at Resorts Atlantic City.
Like its NJ sports betting mobile product, DraftKings’ retail sportsbook will be powered by Kambi Group, indicating the end of SBTech’s involvement at the Resorts sportsbook.
Resorts operated by SBTech early
A month after partnering with DraftKings, Resorts teamed with SBTech, which would provide a “sportsbook solution across on-property, online and mobile channels” in New Jersey.
Since going live, the sportsbook has generated $303,402, which ranks eighth of nine sportsbooks in New Jersey. Only Tropicana, which opened last month, has made less.
While SBTech powered the casino’s sportsbook since first launching, it appears DraftKings and Kambi will take over from here.
In comes DraftKings + Kambi
No mobile sportsbook in the Garden State has performed better than DraftKings thus far.
Since launching at the beginning of August, the platform has generated $16,566,524, far ahead of second-place FanDuel Sportsbook’s online revenue of $5,280,476.
With a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday (pending DGE approval), DraftKings will open its first New Jersey retail sportsbook.
The mobile success, per a press release, “established a dominant position in New Jersey’s online sports betting market.”
Next, the release stated:
“Kambi is ready to replicate its success on-property and has at the ready more than 100 betting kiosks for its US customers.”
What will be included at the Resorts sportsbook
The DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts will feature a dozen betting kiosks, according to the release, as well as five over-the-counter points of sale. Along with customized digital signage, the resort will boast “the most modern land-based wagering experience in New Jersey.”
Last week, Resorts announced that its sportsbook would be DraftKings-branded. Additionally, the space will include:
- Five betting windows
- 12 self-service kiosks
- Ultrahigh-definition video walls
- Stadium-style seats with chargers for mobile devices
- A VIP area
- Full-service bar with food and drink service, and bar top video poker
In the press release, DraftKings chief revenue officer Matt Kalish:
“We’ve been working for months with the team at Resorts to make sure the DraftKings retail sportsbook meets the highest bar for quality and customer experience. We are tremendously excited to launch our first physical presence in the state with such a trusted partner, and to service their loyal patrons.”
New sportsbook to make a splash
From the release, Kambi chief commercial officer Max Meltzer, says they are ready to make their mark on NJ sports betting:
“We’re very excited about bringing our high-quality Sportsbook to brick and mortar establishments in the US, where operators are recognizing the excellence of our on-property product, both from a technology and player experience perspective.”
The New Jersey opening will kick off Kambi launches in nearby Pennsylvania, where the company has partnerships with three casinos to offer sports betting.
The NJ opening comes on the heels of DraftKings opening its first retail sportsbook in Mississippi last week.
Kambi-powered products in New Jersey account for about 60 percent of the online market share to date.
