The 148th Open Championship, aka the British Open, tees off Thursday, July 18, at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. And, there are some rather interesting ways you can bet on golf’s final major of the season at the top NJ sports betting apps.

The British Open will run July 18-21.

But while all NJ sportsbooks are taking bets on who will win the title, the top five NJ online gambling sites also allow you to get a little more creative with your betting.

The Big Guns vs. the field

Having trouble picking one of the top golfers in the field? FanDuel Sportsbook has you covered allowing you to take all the Big Guns versus the field. For a price of +125 you’ll get:

  • Rory McIlroy
  • Brooks Koepka
  • Jon Rahm
  • Dustin Johnson
  • Tiger Woods
  • Justin Rose; and
  • Xander Schauffele

Or, if you like the rest of the field’s chances, you can have them all at -162.

McIlroy is the current favorite at most NJ sportsbooks. He won The Open in 2014, he’s from Northern Ireland, and at age 16, McIlroy shot a course-record 61 at Royal Portrush.

If you think he can put up a number like that again in the opening round, head to BetStars NJ. There, you can bet on McIlroy and a host of other golfers to put up a low number in Round 1 on Thursday. McIlroy is at +105 to shoot 68 or lower.

American winner or a hole-in-one?

Feeling patriotic? Head over to the PointsBet app where the odds on an American winning The Open have been boosted from -139 to +150. Not too shabby for those who want to stay loyal to the Stars and Stripes.

There hasn’t been a hole-in-one at The Open since 2016. There are four par threes at Royal Portrush. And maybe, it might not be as windy in Northern Ireland during the four days of intense play as it usually is.

So, will it happen this year?

Bet yes, there will be a hole in one at The Open at William Hill NJ at -140. Or, if you think the no-hole-in-one streak will continue, take the other side at +120.

Boosting the odds

Finally, DraftKings Sportsbook has boosted the odds on several interesting bets for this golf tournament. Take a look:

The odds on Koepka to be in the lead or tied for it after Round 1 has been boosted from +1400 to +1610. It’s not a bad bet considering Koepka has booked two wins and two runner-up finishes in the last four majors.

As always, there’s going to be a lot of Tiger Woods betting at NJ online sportsbooks. DraftKings Sportsbook is trying to attract even more action on Woods, boosting the odds on him to birdie the first hole from +400 to +460.

You can also bet on Woods to win it all at +2500 now that DraftKings Sportsbook has boosted the odds from +2000.

Of course, there are all kinds of other ways you can bet on the 2019 golf season’s final major championship.

New Jersey sports betting apps feature match-ups where you can bet on one golfer against another. Plus, a variety of props and round by round bets.

Bet the British Open, watch the odds move

As the British Open moves through the first couple of rounds, you can also expect NJ sportsbooks to adjust the odds in most markets.

That means the action should be just as exciting on the NJ sports betting sites as it is at Royal Portrush.

Keep your favorite sports betting apps handy and watch The Open’s first two rounds on the Golf Channel here in NJ, maybe at your favorite Atlantic City sportsbook. NBC takes over for the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday.
