Heads up, New Jersey! PlayMGM has a new name.
BetMGM is a product of Roar, the name of GVC Holdings and MGM Resorts International’s joint venture.
Yes, shortly after BetStars changed its name to Fox Bet, MGM launched its new gaming app BetMGM.
But the BetMGM platform has much more to offer than a new name. While the website and app got a new name, the sportsbook itself got a platform upgrade.
Adam Greenblatt, CEO of Roar Digital, said the company was excited to launch the new BetMGM app:
“We’re thrilled to give our customers bigger and bolder opportunities to enjoy the games and unique experiences that BetMGM will provide as the professional and collegiate football seasons get underway. We believe our product takes in-game entertainment to the next level.”
What’s new at BetMGM sportsbook
The BetMGM product utilizes GVC’s sportsbook platform that gives customers “a seamless betting and gaming experience,” according to the press release.
Players can expect to find a range of pre-match and in-play bets as well as:
- Early Cash Out, where players can settle a bet before the game ends.
- A shared wallet that allows players unlimited movement of funds between the sports, casino, and poker apps.
- Bet tracking, featuring live scoreboards to track bets in real-time.
- Odds boosts, including daily boosted bets, promos, and deals for all major sports.
- Smoother transactions using PayPal, Play+, Skrill and more.
Users can also find the big events of the day front and center at the top of the website and app as well as better navigation between sports:
The original playMGM sportsbook from IGT launched under the Borgata license in August 2018. But its overall presence in New Jersey began earlier than that when it launched its NJ online casino and poker site.
The playMGM app is also available in Nevada. But New Jersey is the first market for the BetMGM rebrand. The goal, of course, is to introduce the new app in other states moving forward.
“The mobile gaming industry’s future is on a steep incline, and we are harnessing best-in-class mobile technology from Roar Digital, powered by GVC,” said Scott Butera, MGM’s president of Interactive Gaming.
“We expect this significant upgrade to our mobile experience to complement MGM’s proven retail presence and allow us to immediately compete in New Jersey and additional states where mobile gaming is approved.”
Is there an app for BetMGM?
The short answer is yes.
The new app is available for download for iOS and Android. You can find the sportsbook app and poker app in the App Store and by visiting the BetMGM website on your Android phone or tablet.
But there appears to be no Apple app as yet for BetMGM Casino.
Did the deposit options change at all with BetMGM?
Not really, but you’ll find all the heavyweight options for deposits and withdrawals at BetMGM that you would find at any of the top sportsbook and casino apps in New Jersey, including:
- Play+ prepaid card
- Visa or Mastercard
- Bank transfer
Borgata casino and sportsbook got a new look, too
While BetMGM replaced playMGM’s app, its sister site also got a new look.
Borgata’s online sportsbook now uses the same new Roar Digital platform as BetMGM.
The upgrade happened at about the same time BetMGM was making its switch ahead of NFL kickoff on Sept. 5.
Another giant leap for MGM and Borgata AC
But the new BetMGM platform is just the latest example of MGM’s and Borgata’s commitment to sports betting in New Jersey.
The first legal sports bet in Atlantic City was placed at the Borgata Race & Sports Book on June 14 of last year.
The Marina District property upped its ante earlier this summer with the opening of the Moneyline Bar & Book.
And the Borgata Sports app joined the mobile betting party in May.
Now, the NJ mobile betting market is at 16 and counting (with theScore and Bet365 NJ joining the crowd in late August).
