One unnamed DraftKings Sportsbook customer is rooting big time for the Houston Astros to win the World Series.
Why not the Washington Nationals, you ask?
Well, the Astros represent the final leg of a 12-leg parlay that was placed on Dec. 18, 2018.
The wager: a $5 free bet.
The potential payout: $13,123.52.
And it all comes down to the Astors winning four games in the 2019 Fall Classic. Game 1 is tonight at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
The 12-leg parlay at DraftKings Sportsbook
The good news for this DraftKings bettor is the sweating-it-out period is just about over. The potential Game 7 would take place on Oct. 30.
And that’s only if it goes that long.
However, we are talking about a wager that has been months in the making. It dates back to the Week 16 of the 2018 NFL season.
Week 8 of the current schedule gets underway on Thursday Night.
Then there are a couple of college football playoffs and bowl games on the ticket (also from 2018-19 NCAA season), a tennis tournament, and a player prop for last year’s NBA points-per-game leader (James Harden).
Here is a complete rundown of where the parlay stands to date:
Are the Astros a good bet?
It seems there are several people out there counting on Houston to win their second World Series crown in three years.
Jim McIngvale, aka “Mattress Mack,” has gone on a US sports betting tour backing them. And we are talking several millions of dollars in bets.
So what are the chances of a winning payout?
Well, if we go by Tuesday’s odds from DK, the chances are looking very good.
Houston is -235 to win the Commissioner’s Trophy. Washington is +192.
And here are the odds for how many games the series will go:
- Over 5.5 (-177)
- Under 5.5 (+140)
Game 1 features two strong pitchers going head to head. Gerrit Cole is going for Houston, and Max Scherzer is pitching for Washington.
And here are a few of the other Game 1 lines from DraftKings:
- Moneyline: Astros -195 / Nationals +170
- Run line: Houston -1.5 (+116) / Washington +1.5 (-136)
- Total runs: over 6.5 (-127) / under 6.5 (+105)
But in this case, the only line that matters is that the Houston Astros are crowned the 2019 World Series champs.
It would make this 10-month-old 12-leg parlay a true masterpiece.
Whether or not it happens is to be determined.
