Both teams are just three games into their 2019-20 schedules, but both teams have looked great in the small sample. New Jersey NBA betting odds predict it will be a tight one but slightly favor the Philadelphia 76ers to hand the Minnesota Timberwolves their first loss on Wednesday in Philly.

The challenge for Philadelphia will be containing Minnesota forward Karl-Anthony Towns, off to a spectacular season thus far, and finding a way to help their own big Joel Embiid replicate his performance from Monday night. If the 76ers can do that, they should reach 4-0.

NBA betting guide to Wolves at Sixers

Both teams enter Wednesday night at 3-0 overall. Two of those wins have come at home for Philadelphia.

Minnesota counters, however, with two road wins so far this year. Those two wins have come at Brooklyn and Charlotte, and in both games, the Timberwolves scored over 120 points.

That’s largely due to the efforts of Towns. He is averaging a double-double so far this season (32 points, 13.3 rebounds), both stats good for third in the league.

Based on the series history, the 76ers need to keep Towns from reaching those numbers Wednesday. Minnesota has won 15 of 28 games in Philadelphia, including four of the last five.

The 76ers might have exactly what’s necessary to run Karl-Anthony out of Towns, however. Philadelphia has tied the Timberwolves for the league lead in steals per game and ranks fourth in the NBA in defensive rating.

Because these teams are so evenly matched, the spread on the game is tight. The sportsbooks involved in New Jersey sports betting favor the 76ers slightly.

Odds and prop bets for Wednesday

New Jersey sportsbooks give a generous point total (odds accurate as of 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday) for this contest given the fact that Philadelphia has been so efficient defensively. They do expect the 76ers’ defense to eventually win out, however.

  • FanDuel has a parlay for those who are confident Philadelphia can not only cover but play lockdown defense on Wednesday. Taking the 76ers’ spread and the under on the point total pays out +260.
  • At Fox Bet, bettors willing to take the 76ers to win by 1-5 points could be rewarded with +400 odds.
  • For the daring, a PointsBet Moneyline 3-Way for the first half only betting on a draw will pay out +1050.

One of these two teams will take their hot start to the season into November. If that’s Philadelphia, it will make the 76ers even stronger favorites in similar contests in the future.
