Philadelphia Eagles fans are aware the 2020 season will begin Sept. 13 at the Washington Redskins. Kickoff is 1 p.m. on FOX.
So while waiting for the other leagues to finalize restart plans, the New Jersey sports betting spotlight belongs to the NFL.
FanDuel Sportsbook has the Week 1 odds.
Those NJ sports betting fans ready to wager on the Birds have several options:
- Point spread
- Total wins
- Player/team props
And of course, there are the Super Bowl betting odds.
Who knows if fans will be watching in the stadiums.
Instead of worrying about it, here is a look at three ways to bet on the Eagles this season.
Week 1 Eagles bets at NJ sportsbooks
Granted, there are several weeks between now and when NFL training camps open.
However, it’s never too early to start analyzing NFL betting lines. Picking the Eagles over the Redskins, at this point, seems like a no-brainer.
Washington tied with the Detroit Lions for an NFC worst 3-12 record last season. That is substantial ground to make up compared to the 9-7 Birds.
Come September, all franchises will start fresh.
From a wagering standpoint, the moneyline at DraftKings Sportsbook for the Eagles to win is -225.
Here are the current odds at five NJ sportsbooks:
The Birds and NFC East betting
Now that the full NFL schedule is public, it is time to take another look at which team has the best shot of winning the division.
The New York Giants finished 4-12 last season. Those North Jersey football fans tend to side with the G-Men.
So those seeking a low risk, high reward option may decide to bet a few bucks that the Giants will surprise the football world.
Will it pay off? Probably not.
But then again, strange things happen in the NFL betting world. Remember last month when the Eagles shocked fans with the second-round selection of Jalen Hurts?
Getting back to the NFC East, DraftKings odds show that the Dallas Cowboys remain a slight favorite over the Birds.
- Cowboys +100
- Eagles +140
- Giants +800
- Redskins +1200
How many games will the Eagles win?
The magic number is 9.5.
BetMGM Sportsbook has posted the projected win totals for 32 NFL franchises. Both the Eagles and Cowboys have a line of 9.5.
So before placing the bet, take a look at the schedule. How many games do you think the Birds can realistically win?
Sweeps of the Giants and Redskins will produce four wins. A split with the Cowboys combined with victories over the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, and Cincinnati Bengals would make it nine in the win column.
So out of the other seven games, the possibility of Philly producing at least one more victory would seem like a realistic possibility.
Remember nothing is a lock in the NFL, though.
Let the injury-plagued ’19 season serve as a reminder.
The good news is there is plenty of time to think about it.
