Are you ready for some shopping? NFL Week 2 odds are already up.

This is a time when many New Jersey online sports betting fans see an upcoming spread that jumps out on them.

If they act early, good value can be realized and a bet can be placed before heavier wagering possibly moves that line.

Bengals @ Browns on Thursday Night Football

Before we get into the local matchups and NFL Week 2 odds, your first focus is Thursday night’s Week 2 opener.

The host Cleveland Browns are -6 against the Cincinnati Bengals in the battle of Ohio. Both teams put the spotlight on young quarterbacks.

The Bengals gave a strong effort before falling to the Los Angeles Chargers amid bizarre circumstances on Sunday. Their 16-13 setback provided a push to bettors who took them at +3 and a win to those who had the Bengals at +3.5.

This game was ticketed for overtime, but kicker Randy Bullock missed a game-tying field goal from 31 yards, injured his hamstring and had his streak of 24 straight successful field goals from inside the 40 all happen on one play.

The Browns were thrashed 38-6 by the Baltimore Ravens, who went 14-2 last year and covered this eight-point spread easily. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, highly touted a couple of years ago, is on the verge of regressing.

Meanwhile, the local teams didn’t have the best of starts for NFL Week 1. But NFL Week 2 odds still give the Philadelphia Eagles some credit.

The New York Giants face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, so their fate is still unknown.

49ers @ NY Jets

The New York Jets try to rebound from a lackluster season opener in facing the San Francisco 49ers at home. This opened as a generous spread for the Jets, +7, against a team coming off a loss. The Niners, defending NFC champs, were surprised at home as seven-point favorites by the upstart Arizona Cardinals, 24-20.

The Jets, as 6.5-point dogs, were never in their opener against the Buffalo Bills. The defense gave an inspired effort against talented running quarterback Josh Allen. They forced a number of turnovers and kept the Jets on the periphery of the game.

But the offense went nowhere, and star running back Le’Veon Bell left the game with a hamstring injury. The “hammys” are multiweek nuisances.

The Jets will try to build off of two late touchdowns.

Giants @ Bears

New York Giants bettors can make a now-and-later wager for Sunday’s contest against the host Chicago Bears. The line of Chicago -5.5 was up even before the G-Men took on the Pittsburgh Steelers for Monday Night Football.

Should Big Blue prevail, that line may drop. Some gamblers will take this line now and see if it moves after the Monday night contest.

Chicago obtained a victory over the Detroit Lions that may propel its season. The Bears trailed 23-6 in the fourth quarter against the Lions.

Yet despite that 2%-win probability according to NextGen stats, the Bears stole a 27-23 victory. And they were living right as Detroit receiver D’Andre Swift dropped the game-winning touchdown pass in the waning moments.

Rams @ Eagles

The Eagles, who squandered a 17-0 second-quarter lead and lost 27-17 to the Washington Football Team, are an early favorite of 2.5 points against the Los Angeles Rams, who opened the campaign with a nail-biting 20-17 triumph over the Dallas Cowboys.

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will try to rebound after throwing two picks leading to Washington touchdowns and taking a sack that prompted a field goal to come up short.

Still a lot of love for Tom Brady, Buccaneers

For weekend games, an interesting line surrounds the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Tom Brady Bucs are -8 in their home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The line may reflect the wagering premium put next to Brady’s name. The Bucs were only 3.5-point underdogs against the New Orleans Saints, who crushed them 34-23 Sunday.

New Orleans also had a touchdown scored and reversed from a couple of inches away in the final seconds.

Contrast Tampa Bay -8 with the fact that Jacksonville just won, as an eight-point dog, against the Indianapolis Colts, 27-20. This line reflects bettors’ love of Brady.

He is going to be overplayed throughout the season. If you can jump on this game early, you will be getting eight points from an 0-1 team hosting a 1-0 club.

NFL Week 2 odds: around the league

Buffalo visits Miami as a 5.5-point favorite. The Bills have won five of the last six meetings.

The Las Vegas Raiders, who whetted the appetite of Nevada bettors with a pulsating 34-30 win over the Carolina Panthers, host the Saints on Monday Night.

The Raiders, formerly of Oakland, are getting 5.5 points for their debut in the gambling capital. Running back Josh Jacobs has energized the team.

The Seattle Seahawks are -4 against the New England Patriots for their Sunday night contest. The Seahawks throttled the Atlanta Falcons 38-25 on Sunday.

This line shouldn’t move much, if at all, to the high side, but Seattle bettors will be waiting to pounce if that spread gets to 3 points.

These are some of the more intriguing lines in the early NFL Week 2 schedule.

It will be interesting to see how betting progresses between now and kickoff.
