Jolly Ol’ St. Chuck And FanDuel Sportsbook Delivering Holiday Odds Boosts

You’ve seen Charles Barkley host Saturday Night Live, play golf and try to convince Shaquille O’Neal that Earth is closer to the moon than Atlanta is to California.

But have you seen Charles Barkley promos for daily fantasy sports and NJ sports betting enthusiasts?

Thanks to FanDuel, New Jersey bettors can now do so. Jolly Ol’ St. Chuck is starting out the fun with some deals this week. It’s part of a multiyear partnership between Barkley and FanDuel Group.

Details of the Charles Barkley promos

Whether you play daily fantasy sports games, bet on sporting events or both at FanDuel, there’s something in St. Chuck’s bag for you this week. The gifting begins today with free site credit for all FanDuel Sportsbook customers.

FanDuel plans to offer more free site credit tomorrow as well. Because Barkley, the former Philadelphia 76er, rose to prominence as an NBA player, FanDuel is also offering special Barkley Boosts for the five NBA games on Christmas Day.

Two others are available for tonight’s opening night action:

  • Steph Curry to be top points scorer in Warriors-Nets game, now paying +240
  • LeBron James to score over 21.5 points versus Clippers, now paying +100

The max bet is $50 on both odds boosts.

DFS players can enjoy a free entry, for use anytime from now through Christmas Day. Barkley’s entry into the Basketball Hall of Fame was accompanied by the retirement of his number, 34, so FanDuel is donating 340,000 meals to Feeding America.

“Charles Barkley is an American sports icon, a television legend and gaming royalty, so he’s the perfect person to ring in the holidays for our customers,” said Mike Raffensperger, chief marketing officer of FanDuel Group. “For the next few years, we look forward to amplifying his voice, and adding Barkley’s one-of-a-kind personality will continue to differentiate FanDuel and make sports betting fun for everyone.”

This partnership could be viewed as an extension of the deal between FanDuel and Turner Sports. Earlier this year, the two companies made a deal to include FanDuel in Turner’s NBA content.

“The Inside the NBA crew and I really enjoyed working with FanDuel during last season’s playoffs, and I’m grateful to now be their brand ambassador,” said Barkley. “FanDuel helps our show be more informative and interactive, and they do it in a way that any knucklehead could understand. So even if your team is down by 20 in the fourth quarter, with FanDuel, you’ll have a reason to keep watching.”

Barkley joins a growing community

Barkley isn’t the first former professional athlete, even just within the ranks of former NBA players, to ink such a deal. For example, Allen Iverson is a longtime PointsBet spokesperson.

FanDuel itself has a similar deal with former NFL player Pat McAfee. Spokesperson roles haven’t necessarily always gone to former athletes, however. Actor, musician and producer Jamie Fox is a spokesperson for BetMGM.

And Barkley previously did an ad campaign with DraftKings Sportsbook.

These partnerships are a win for both parties. This one allows Barkley to further cash in on his notoriety and gives FanDuel a new way to market its products. This week, NJ bettors and DFS players can enjoy some benefits as well.
