WynnBet Thinking Big, Nets Shaq As Sports Betting Brand Ambassador, Consultant

WynnBet, the mobile sports betting app from Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts, and NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal are teaming up.

The four-time NBA champion and 15-time All-Star will be a brand ambassador for WynnBet, the two sides announced Monday. As part of the exclusive partnership, O’Neal will provide his expertise as a strategic consultant.

“I love working with my friends at Wynn Resorts and I am so excited to take WynnBET to new heights,” O’Neal said in a news release.

WynnBet gets big presence with Shaq

O’Neal, a Newark, NJ native, will be a recognizable face for an operator looking to gain traction in the rapidly growing NJ sports betting market.

He joins two former NFL players, Chad Ochocinco and Nick Mangold, in representing the sports betting brand.

Here in the Garden State, WynnBet is still building a following. The app, which operates via the Caesars Interactive license, launched around this time last year.

Nationally, WynnBet is currently live in seven states with more expected soon.

Shaq’s new job description

A press release describes the deal as a “long-term partnership.”

The plan is to prominently feature O’Neal in the company’s advertising campaigns across TV, digital, and print.

The Inside The NBA host will attend in-person fan-facing events, create original content with WynnBET, and interact as a guest with company media partners such as Blue Wire Podcasts, Cumulus Media, and Minute Media.

A free-to-play game called ‘ShaqPot’ is also going to launch inside the app.
Shaq will be selling his ownership stake in the Sacramento Kings to comply with NBA rules related to sports betting.

Being friends with Shaq seems fun

The Shaq/WynnBet partnership can be viewed as the extension of an established connection.

Wynn Interactive CEO Craig Billings said Shaquille O’Neal has been “a great friend of Wynn Las Vegas for many years, and we are thrilled to expand our relationship.”

Of course, a 7-foot-1 brand ambassador is pretty hard to miss. Of course, Shaq brings much more to the table than his massive size.

“A successful businessman, NBA legend, and one of the most well-known personalities in sports media, we believe our players will enjoy interacting with him through the WynnBET app and are excited to feature Shaq in our advertising campaign set to debut later this summer,” said Billings.
