Tom Brady is on the verge of earning a cherished NFL record. So what does this mean for NJ sports bettors, you ask?
Well, DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook are among the operators ready to entice prop bettors with special promos tied into the NFL Week 4 Sunday Night Football Game.
It also happens to be Brady’s return to New England. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, who won six Super Bowls with the Patriots, only needs 68 yards to surpass Drew Brees as the all-time NFL pass-yardage leader.
Because the setting is oh-so-perfect, the books see value in this Hollywood-esque reunion between Brady and New England coach Bill Belichick.
Here’s a close look at how NJ online sportsbooks are approaching the game.

Select the boost from the bet slip before applying to obtain the boosted price.
Here are a few of the options available to NJ bettors:
- How many completions will it take for Brady to surpass 67.5 yards? (The over-under is 5.5)
- (Can Brady do it in the first quarter? Yes has become a prohibitive -200, the no is +150)
- Who will catch the pass that puts Brady over the top?
Tom Brady completes his historic pass to…
Zoning in on which player will catch the historic pass, the emphatic late-week sentiment has been on his favorite target, tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk surged from +400 to +250 late in the week and has become the favorite.
Wide receivers Chris Godwin at +350 and Antonio Brown at +500 are among the others listed. This is a crapshoot of course because one can’t predict a receiver gaining multiple yards after a catch. You’d suspect that once Brady is inside of 15 yards, he’ll look for Gronk if this scenario materializes.
There are a couple of longshot reaches, based on Brady and Gronk’s individual performances in Foxboro, where they once played.
Can Brady surpass 443.5 yards, which is his career-high in Foxboro? Yes is +1200.
Can Gronk surpass 162.5 yards, his career-best in New England? That’s +1400.
Major assumptions connected with each is that Tampa Bay would be in a shootout with New England and that these yards would be needed in the fourth quarter. Odds are they won’t be.
The rivalry between Brady and his former coach has been played up for the last 18 months, ever since Brady left New England for Tampa Bay.
The Patriots did not make the playoffs last year. The Bucs won the Super Bowl.
Sunday should become advantage number two for him and a good ticket-writer for the books.
