Ready for the countdown to ring in a new year? It’s time to herald in 2022 and Atlantic City casinos have everything planned – from fireworks, dancing, and ball drops – to live entertainers on Dec. 31.
There is a reason to celebrate, too. Just look back at 2021 and it’s easy to see Atlantic City had an improved year over 2020.
Casinos and businesses saw better returns in 2021 than the year before when New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy ordered the casinos closed on March 16, 2020. He didn’t let them reopen until July 2 the same year.
Reports are positive. In September, a state report showed Atlantic City’s casinos and racetrack sports betting outletswere bouncing back from financial woes brought on by the pandemic, taking in 31% more in August than they did a year earlier after the COVID-19 closures ended.
Figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement show the nine casinos and three horse tracksthat offer sports betting won $427.6 million in August this year, compared with $326.3 million in August 2020.
Without a doubt, it’s time for revelry, champagne, and to look forward to the start of a new year.
The Atlantic City casinos are offering various celebration choices on Dec. 31. The selection at various casinos includes dining, dancing, music venues, concerts, and open bars.
Tropicana Fireworks Display Dec. 31
On New Year’s Eve, resort casinos already have plans to usher in 2022 with style, starting with fireworks over the Atlantic City Boardwalk from in front of the Tropicana Atlantic City Hotel & Casino.
The boardwalk fireworks display isn’t the only thing happening on Dec. 31.
There is a selection of casino parties – and pool parties – as well as concerts, champagne toasts at midnight, and special reservation-only gourmet dinners.
There are more than enough entertainment options to ring in the new year, too, depending on how much you want to spend and where you want to be when the clock turns to midnight.
Most events begin at 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 and costs vary. Some dining and entertainment events also require reservations.
Balls & Balloons Fall At Trop & Showboat
Tropicana’s Palm Walk area inside the resort also hosts a balloon drop at midnight. Boogie Nights dance club plans a party with hors d’oeuvres, and a two-hour open bar.
Showboat Atlantic City’s New Year’s Eve bash comes with a five-hour open bar and multiple party venues including The Bourbon Room (formerly the House of Blues), and others featuring live bands, light shows, and ball drop.
NYE Champagne Toasts and Dancing
At Bally’s AC Hotel & Casino you can dine, dance, and toast on New Year’s Eve. Jerry Blavat and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes perform at 9 p.m. in Bally’s Grand Ballroom. Tickets include dinner, open bar, and champagne toast at midnight.
The Boardwalk Saloon at the Wild West Casino at Caesars Atlantic City has a New Year’s Eve party starting at 9 p.m. It includes live music, a free photo booth, swag, and a toast at midnight.
Golden Nugget’s NYE party at the Wave nightclub includes a three-hour open bar until 11 p.m., live entertainment, and a midnight toast.
Entertainers Take Stage Dec. 31
Borgata Hotel & Casino is offering packages with comedy and drinks. DJ Press Play performs at 9 p.m. at Premier Nightclub and there’s an open bar until 11 p.m.
Tony Orlando performs at the Superstar Theater at Resorts Casino Hotel Atlantic City. And, the LandShark Bar & Grill has no cover and a party starting at 8 p.m. that ends with a midnight margarita toast.
At Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena, Chicago performs at 10:30 p.m. And at Ocean Casino Resort, Cash Cashperforms at Ocean’s HQ2 nightclub on New Year’s Eve. At Nola’s Bar & Lounge, there’s also live entertainment.
Getting In The NYE Swim At Harrah’s Pool
Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City lights up the indoor Pool After Dark. Harrah’s is featuring a NYE party that includes a three-hour open bar, music, and balloon drop at midnight.
A Chance To Make It A Weekend
And, because this Dec. 31 falls on a Friday, there’s an even better idea for visitors to stay the weekend in Atlantic City.
Staying over in Atlantic City means a chance to go to the 2022 polar bear plunge which kicks off at noon on Jan. 1 on the beach in front of Resorts. The annual chilly swim raises money for the non-profit Cancer Support Community New Jersey (formerly Gilda’s Club).
Whether you stay all weekend or just the night, everything on the New Year’s Eve list is a good bet in Atlantic City.
