The Press of Atlantic City reported that the property bought by the owner of Showboat could reopen, as soon as next month.
Here comes Pier AC?
The Garden Pier name will be gone, replaced by Pier AC.
The developers in charge of the project say the pier will include a music stage for live acts and an outdoor bar, in the first phase of the reopening, which could happen in July. Later phases call for a sports bar and a restaurant, among other improvements
Here’s a video about the plans from the Press of AC.
An unrelated outdoor bar was planned near the boardwalk for this summer, as well.
Showboat owner shows he is trying with Pier AC
Bart Blatstein bought the Garden Pier, and several other properties, earlier this year. The package of real estate cost him $6 million.
The owner of the reopened Showboat has shown nothing if not imagination in trying to get his resort back up and running, while also helping to spur redevelopment in AC.
The Atlantic City Fan Xpo planned for this summer was a bust after just three weeks. But the plans for the Garden Pier would seem to have more legs.
Development outside TEN AC, if not inside
While things have generally been going well in AC of late elsewhere, TEN remains an outlier. A state judge recently put a lien on the property for owner Glenn Straub’s failure to pay required fees.
And while TEN remains an expensive an unused resort that stands out like a sore thumb, at least the pier just outside will get the revamp it needs.
