Hey New Jersey, Do You Agree That Bet365 Is ‘The World’s Favorite Sportsbook’?

Actor Aaron Paul is the new pitchman for Bet365’s New Jersey sports betting app, which he refers to as the “world’s favorite sportsbook.”

Is Bet365 really “the world’s favorite sportsbook”?

New Jersey bettors paying close attention to Aaron Paul’s 30-second TV spot may suddenly be asking that question.

If you don’t know who Paul is, just think of Walter White and Breaking Bad. Paul starred as Jesse Pinkman on the hit AMC series.

The commercial plays regularly during Philadelphia 76ers and Phillies games, at least locally.

But for those who have not seen it, here it is:

It’s a sign that the popular sports betting brand across the pond is making a bigger push in New Jersey one year after its initial launch.

Bet365 + NJ sports betting

Bet365 is not a new player on the NJ sports betting scene.

The European operator launched in the Garden State around this time last year. Aug. 30, 2019, was the exact date.

The brand is one of three mobile sports betting apps under the Hard Rock AC license.

Hard Rock online sportsbook and Unibet NJ are the others.

But of the three brands, it seems Bet365 is really building a following with customers.

According to Online Poker Report, there are rumblings that the brand accounts for the majority of the betting revenue under the Hard Rock license.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement does not break down monthly numbers by individual operator. Hard Rock did report $450,589 in sports betting revenue in June. Sports bets were still limited to the PGA Tour, NASCAR and MMA.

And with Atlantic City casinos still closed, all of the wagers came in via NJ sports betting apps.

Can Bet365 make headway in New Jersey?

So that June revenue may not seem like a lot, but it was good enough for fourth-best.

July numbers will be released on Wednesday.

But August is likely the month when Bet365 will start to see if its new marketing campaign is working.

For one, building a customer base takes time, and in NJ, there is a lot of competition. It was almost exactly a year after DraftKings Sportsbook made its debut that Bet365 joined the crowd.

Also, August will include a full month of Major League Baseball, NBA and NHL games.

Bet365 upping online casino offerings too

While the commercial focuses on sports wagering, the Bet365 casino product isn’t being ignored.

The NJ online casino app is now offering Playtech casino games. The gambling technology company based in London offers an extensive library of online slots.

For Playtech, a company that offers 700-plus “innovative casino games,” the deal provides an entry point into the US online gaming market.

And for Bet365, having a strong sports betting/casino combo opens the door to cross-selling opportunities.

Sportsbooks + celebrities = advertising

With 18 mobile sports betting apps (and more on the horizon) available to Garden State bettors, gaining a market share is no easy task.

FanDuel Sportsbook is the market leader.

And DraftKings is a close second.

The rest are all fighting for a slice of the pie.

Plus, several of the operators have created and continue to create catchy TV ads to try to entice new customers.

For instance, PointsBet NJ teamed up with former 76er Allen Iverson.

And early on, DraftKings went with TNT basketball analyst and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.

So besides offering a variety of wagering options and innovative promo offers, sportsbooks are relying on creative pitch lines and heavy marketing as a means to drum up new business.

In terms of whether or not Bet365 really is “the world’s favorite sportsbook,” we will let the bettors decide.

Jersey Sides & Totals: DraftKings Has NFL Odds Boosts But Bet365 Is All About Quantity

Here’s a weekly look at the best NFL bets and lines available at a selection of NJ online sports betting sites: DraftKings Sportsbook, Fox Bet, and Bet365.

Are you ready for some football?

The NFL season kicks off this Thursday in Chicago and college football season approaches its second full week of action.

That’s a lot of football, so you better be ready.

With 10 retail sportsbooks and now 15 apps firing on all cylinders, there is a lot to keep up with. Two weeks ago, Bet365 NJ “soft-launched” its mobile app.

And last week, Fox Bet NJ began rolling out what is its rebranding of the existing BetStars app.

In this weekly column, I will focus on up to three New Jersey sportsbooks and take a deeper dive at the promos, props, and specials that you should be aware of heading into the weekend’s action.

For the opening NFL weekend, I’m looking at what’s on offer from DraftKings Sportsbook, Bet365, and Fox Bet.

What’s what at DraftKings Sportsbook

With a full season of NFL sports betting under their belts, DraftKings comes out of the gate with a strong lineup of offers and promotions.

In addition to a full menu of lines for NFL Week 1, here are some promotions to be aware of on DraftKings.

There is a different “odds boost” each day this week, ending with the full kickoff on Sunday, Sept 8:

It’s still surprising to me how so few books in New Jersey take a localized approach. It’s very straightforward. NFL fans in the Garden State are likely to be fans of the Jets, Giants or Eagles, so why not give them a hook to pique their interest on the weekend? It’s not that hard.

DraftKings does a nice job of tailoring their promotions with a local “angle.”

In DraftKings’ week 1 “no brainer” promotion, a bettor either needs the Jets, Giants or Eagles to score a touchdown.

Easy money, right? Of course, but note that this offer is capped at a maximum $10 wager (to win $10):

DraftKings also is offering “NO VIG” NFL lines for week 1.

As a frame of reference, below is the current “VIG” lines in which a straight $25 point spread bet on the Eagles at -114 would win $22:

With “NO VIG” lines, the same $25 on the Eagles at +100 will pay $25:

One note, currently these “NO VIG” lines cannot be included as part of parlay bets.

Fox Bet has a lot of personality

Fox Bet has now rebranded the BetStars skin. The old BetStars NJ black-and-red color palette has been replaced with the blue-and-gold theme of Fox Bet.

Additionally, Fox Sports on-air personalities now adorn most of the promotional lineup on Fox Bet.

For the NFL, there are promotions tied to Fox Sports personalities Colin Cowherd and Clarissa Thompson:

While there aren’t any “local” promotions on offer, Fox Bet does have some unique game prop wagering opportunities.

Below are the prop lines for quarterback pass completions and running back rushing attempts for Green Bay vs Chicago:

Fox Bet also offers an extensive menu of “Custom Bets.”

These bets will vary game by game and week to week. If a bettor wants to suggest a prop that isn’t currently listed on the app, a tweet to Fox Bet using the hashtag #CustomBet will get their attention and a response.

Here are some of the custom bets in place for the Bears-Packers opening game on Thursday night:

Don’t ignore the newbie Bet365

Bet365 is new to New Jersey. The British bookmaker launched in mid-August, just in time for the NFL season.

However, the current offers on Bet365 are more skewed to European football (i.e. soccer) than the NFL. The lone NFL bonus relates to an Early Payout offer, in which an early payout will be made if a team gains a 17-point lead:

Bet365 does offer American football action and tons of it, covering the NFL, NCAA football, and the Canadian Football League (CFL):

If you’re an NFL bettor that likes to look beyond the standard spreads, lines, and totals, Bet365 NJ is worth checking out.

There is no shortage of “action” on offer within the NJ sportsbook app. The Thursday night opener features 130+ “markets” from which to choose from. It’s an extensive betting menu that would rival any New Jersey diner in terms of scale and variety.

Here’s a quick overview of the main props and score props featured for the Thursday NFL Bears-Packers opener:

Taking a closer look, there are some unique props to be found on Bet365. Here is the longest TD scored and total number of field goals:

Bet365 also has several props related to scoring frequency for each team and each half:

In a nutshell, there is something for everyone playing via the Bet365 app. Check it out and take the time to dig a little deeper in this new site to find a prop or price that might be playable for you.

I will be tracking both Bet365 and the rebranded FoxBet to observe how they evolve with other promotions and offers over the course of the season.

Looking ahead to Sunday

At the end of each weekly column, I will make three football selections that I will track over the course of the season.

A couple of years ago, I would have used the disclaimer “for entertainment purposes only.” Since I live in New Jersey, in addition to the “entertainment” part, I will also now be betting the games.

For this week, here are my picks:

REDSKINS +10 over Eagles

My heart is with the Eagles and, yes, the Eagles have won the last four head-to-head meetings vs the ‘Skins. But 10 points is still too much to lay on opening week vs a division rival.

VIKINGS -4 over Falcons

After going to the NFC title game in 2017, Minnesota took a step backward last year.

With a full year of Vikings offensive system under his belt, I expect Kirk Cousins to be better in 2019. Along with a healthy Dalvin Cook, I think the Vikes will come out firing on Sunday.

RAVENS -6.5 over Dolphins

This is more of a play against the Dolphins than for the Ravens.

The Dolphins are currently listed at DraftKings Sportsbook with a season win total of 4.5. The Ravens are fresh off an undefeated preseason, but more importantly, have an emerging star in year two QB Lamar Jackson.

It could be a long season in South Florida for the Fins.

Best of luck to everyone out there. Here’s to a profitable 2019 football season in NJ sports betting.

Online Sports Betting Giant Bet365 Finally Opens Its Doors In New Jersey

Bet365 finally opens its doors in the crowded NJ online sports betting market, marking the well-known European company’s first entry in the US.

The testing phase began Thursday:

Talk about perfect timing for NFL and college football betting. And it marks the first US entry for the well-known European sports betting operator.

The New Jersey online sports betting tally is now at 16 sites, with more on the horizon.

Bet365 is the second of three skins operating under the Hard Rock Atlantic City license. The other is the self-branded platform from Gaming Innovation Group, which launched back in late January.

Unibet sportsbook, Hard Rock’s other online skin, originally targeted a summer launch, but there have been no updates regarding when the site will be live. Unibet online casino, however, is up and running.

The timing of the Bet365 launch should not come as a surprise.

Back in June, NJ Gambling Sites caught up with Hard Rock AC president Joe Lupo, who said, “… And we hope to see Bet365 before football season.”

Is there an app for Bet365 NJ?

The US-facing website for Bet365 takes you to a mobile-optimized landing page when you access it on your phone or tablet. It immediately offers you the option to download an iOS-compatible app.

apple app bet365 nj sportsbook

A direct download for Android is available when you access the same mobile site on an Android device.

This means that Bet365 sportsbook in New Jersey enters the market with a complete array of apps for users.

How can I deposit at Bet365 sportsbook?

Bet365 comes ready with a full slate of deposit options during its testing period including:

  • PayNearMe
  • Bank transfer
  • PayPal
  • Skrill
  • Credit/debit
  • Cash (at Hard Rock AC)

Other elements of note for NJ sports betting fans

All in all, the overall look and feel of Bet365 NJ is similar to its well-known European site. Users can customize how the odds are shown, view top events, change the language, and receive live game updates.

Another unique feature for Bet365 is its live-streaming capabilities. According to the app, users can stream “over 140,000 live events each year.”

That’s a convenient amenity as US users head into prime football betting season.

There’s a Bet365 online casino, too

For NJ online casino fans, Bet365 doesn’t let you down either. The site comes equipped with a robust slate of casino games with a shared wallet.

To access the online casino on your desktop, click the “Casino” link at the top of the page. The site navigates you to the online casino platform where you have access to some familiar casino games including slots, table games, arcade games, and jackpots.

Some of the games listed include:

  • Divine Fortune
  • Starburst
  • Emoji Planet
  • French, American and European roulette
  • Blackjack Multihand
  • Pandamania
  • Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

All in all, Bet365 Casino comes equipped with about 100 games. However, the Bet365 sportsbook app does not give you access to the casino.

Instead, you need to download a separate app to play at Bet365 Casino. The casino app is available on both Apple and Android devices.

Bet365 settling into New Jersey

Besides launching a sports wagering app in NJ, Bet365 also set up shop in Marlton. It’s unknown what operations are taking place inside the office.

Signing the long-term lease was phase two of the “coming to America” plan. The first was signing a Letter of Intent to partner with Hard Rock for an online skin back in 2018.

Once Unibet launches, the year-old Boardwalk property will have all three of its sports betting slots filled.

Bet365 is the latest operator to join the hot NJ mobile sports betting market. In July, the 10 retail and 14 mobile operators reported a combined handle of $251.3 million for July.

Out of that number, 85% came via mobile.

And in the process, New Jersey flirted with Nevada’s all-time record for the month.

Unibet Makes Its NJ Start, And Bet365 Sportsbook App Is Coming ‘Pretty Soon’

Hard Rock AC’s sports betting partners Unibet and Bet365 could launch soon, said casino president Joe Lupo. In fact, Unibet Casino is beta testing now.

Yes, it’s late May, but Hard Rock Atlantic City is gearing up for football season.

Those plans will likely include the launch of two new NJ mobile sports betting platforms before the NFL’s first regular-season game is played. (That’s the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears on Sept. 5, for those keeping tabs.)

NJ Gambling Sites sat down with Hard Rock AC president Joe Lupo last week at the Lobby Bar. He shared a “hopeful” launch timeline for the casino’s NJ sports betting partners Unibet (from Kindred) and Bet365:

“We hope to see Unibet here pretty soon. I will just say in the next 30 days. And we hope to see Bet365  before football season.

“We are extremely excited about both. They are working with us. They are working very hard as well to get up and going before fall hits.”

And a few days later, after a testing period, Unibet did officially launch in New Jersey. It became the 21st online casino in NJ and the first in the US for Kindred.

More on the Unibet online casino launch

Unibet’s announcement follows a beta testing period in NJ that kicked off

A Twitter message obtained by NJGS last week confirmed Lupo’s timeline. Here is a snippet from the message about an NJ-exclusive beta test:

“Unibet Online Casino is launching in New Jersey, and we just need some testers to come play on our site …”

But the site is only an online casino… for now. The online sportsbook for Unibet NJ is still in the works.

Unibet hinted at a July time frame for that part of the NJ online gambling site.

And once the sportsbook officially launches, customers will have access to a virtual shared wallet.

Hard Rock’s full quota of NJ sportsbook apps

When Bet365 does launch alongside Unibet, Hard Rock will have all three online skin slots filled, as permitted by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The other belongs to the Hard Rock-branded sports app powered by Gaming Innovation Group. That one has been online since Jan. 26 and shares a wallet with Hard Rock online casino.

Something exciting is in the works with the Hard Rock app, too.

Lupo is not willing to go into the specifics just yet, but he did provide NJGS with a little teaser.

“We have a couple things we are going to probably speak to in  about 30 to 60 days that will really be new to the market. And we are really excited about it.”

Hard Rock, NJ sports betting and the NFL

For those Hard Rock sports betting customers desiring more than what the current 3,800-square-foot space offers, be patient.

Fans were able to take a seat at the tail end of March Madness betting season (sports wagering windows opened days before the Super Bowl).

But like the new sportsbooks opening at Bally’s, Borgata and Harrah’s, Hard Rock is working on something special behind the scenes. And like the big one-year anniversary plans for June 28, customers will have to wait a tad longer to learn more.

Pencil in NFL and college football season for the big reveal. And the focus will be on “providing a better viewing experience.”

Here are the details Lupo was willing to share at this point:

“We are working on a different phase where we will be able to show more games here on property.”

In other words, he is talking about those football fans coming to watch the games on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The idea is to keep these customers on property.

“There is room to expand (the current space). We are coming up with another idea to have a lot more viewing for football,” Lupo said.

Like the app launches mentioned above, we’ll simply have to stay tuned.

Will TheScore join Unibet and Bet365 this fall?

The current NJ sports betting app count is at 14. BorgataSports is the newest addition to the party (launching May 14).

But Unibet and Bet365 may not be the only additions to the NJ sports betting party this fall.

TheScore (from Bet.Works and partner Monmouth) continues to make a big social media push that references a pending launch.

We reached out to the company for a status check, and a spokesperson said there is “no firm timeline to share publicly.”

But if Unibet, Bet365, and TheScore all launch before football season, hitting 20 this year could still be a realistic possibility.
